Creating a community-driven support hub for the culinary world

We had the distinct pleasure of working with the prestigious James Beard Foundation on their new venture, Open For Good. A program with a purpose to provide critical resources that help independent restaurants become stronger, more equitable, more sustainable, and more resilient. When we approached the project on WordPress, we treated the designs in a way that would inspire learning and exploration through a clear UX and UI strategy that promotes and highlights Open For Good’s key value propositions.

UX, Research, and Testing

Leveraging Consumer Data to Access Real Insights

What started as a women's culinary leadership forum quickly pivoted to an initiative to help the restaurant industry with the affliction of COVID-19. Utilizing tools such as User Testing and Surveys, our UX/UI team went direct to the sources to reveal the main obstacles and needs that face the culinary and hospitality industries on a daily basis, especially exacerbated by the pandemic.

A successful end product meant building an educational source to inspire an active community, offering real support, and encourage users to spread the word and return all while optimizing the experience for mobile and desktop.

Guiding Education With Design

With education being the main driver of the site, our designs accounted for the various use cases of the users, all while evoking the James Beard Foundation's brand vision and purpose. From the initial lo-fi wireframes to the final sitemap, clear navigation and an intuitive content framework was highlighted and considered with each viewpoint.
