Minimalist Makeover: A Ecommerce Redesign for Hypebeast Stalwarts

CNCPTS (Concepts) NYC, founded in 1996 by Tarek Hassan in Cambridge, Massachusetts, has become a pivotal name in streetwear. Known for pioneering collaborations with global fashion houses, designing a private label line, and curating a selection of high-quality products, CNCPTS has flagship stores in New York City and Boston. The brand’s meticulously curated collection of sneakers, street fashion, and luxury items appeals to sneaker enthusiasts and fashion-forward consumers alike. CNCPTS partners with renowned brands such as Nike, Adidas, and Birkenstock, solidifying its leadership in sneaker culture. To keep pace with its reputation for innovation, the brand sought a bold digital transformation.

The Challenge

CNCPTS needed a visually striking, custom e-commerce site that reflected its standing in the industry. Their previous site, based on a standard theme, didn’t capture the uniqueness of their brand. The new site needed to showcase limited-edition products while accommodating the high-traffic spikes associated with product drops. With advanced features like pre-orders, raffles, and live auctions integral to streetwear culture, the platform also had to handle diverse product categories, including limited-edition sneakers and women’s clothing. Overall, the goal was to create a sleek, branded experience that embodied CNCPTS’ innovation and resonated with their audience.

The Solution

We focused on delivering a clean, minimal design that would let CNCPTS’ exclusive products and collaborations stand out while ensuring the site could handle high-traffic events like product drops. We integrated key features such as pre-orders, raffles, and live auctions to engage their audience and enhance the shopping experience. Mobile optimization was also a priority, offering users an intuitive experience on any device. With custom-built tools and advanced Shopify integration, we ensured the platform was both high-performing and easy to manage, aligning with CNCPTS’ bold, streetwear-driven identity.

Technical

We implemented advanced functionality to support CNCPTS’ drop culture, including pre-orders, live auctions, and countdown timers to build anticipation for exclusive releases. Shopify’s robust infrastructure provided scalability, ensuring smooth performance during high-traffic product drops. We enhanced the user experience with key features like hidden collection pages for VIP customers, allowing early access to select items, and added VIP account states with custom animations for a personalized touch. To streamline product launches, we introduced release date control, preventing premature purchases, and integrated pre-orders directly into product pages. A dynamic blog section was created to showcase collaborations, events, and community initiatives, deepening customer engagement with CNCPTS’ narrative. The custom raffle system ensured fair access to limited-edition items, managing orders through Shopify Flow to prevent duplicate entries and handle high-demand releases. Additionally, we developed custom packing slips, brand-specific size guides, and Klaviyo email templates to enhance communication and maintain brand consistency.
