Revitalizing W Hotels' Digital Hub: Fusing Luxury & Modernity

Since 2017, we have partnered with W Hotels, initially designing and launching their branded magazine website, The Angle. Over the past seven years, we’ve continued to maintain the site, handling everything from development and content creation to translations. In 2024, we reimagined the site to coincide with W Hotels’ rebranding, transforming it into a sleek, digital-first platform that integrates editorial content with hotel features, enhancing usability and flexibility.

CHALLENGE

W Hotels, undergoing a major rebrand, needed a website that mirrored their transformation across physical spaces and brand identity. We had previously launched The Angle, their magazine-style blog, and they tasked us with integrating it into a single platform that also featured hotel information, event highlights, and updated city guides. While the previous site served its purpose, the new challenge was to align the digital experience with the brand’s fresh, vibrant aesthetic and cater to a global audience with flexible, modern content presentation. The goal was to provide a seamless, luxurious digital platform, built to engage users and support W Hotels’ forward-thinking identity.

DESIGN STRATEGY
Our design overhaul for W Hotels reflected their redefined brand identity, bringing together elements of modern luxury, vibrant energy, and localized touches. We introduced a clean, sleek aesthetic with a bold use of color that captures the essence of the hotel chain’s liberated luxury ethos. The user experience was carefully curated to feel intuitive yet playful, emphasizing W Hotels’ daring design sensibilities while maintaining elegance.
TECHNICAL IMPLEMENTATION
We upgraded the WordPress platform to provide a more flexible content management system. The modular approach allowed W Hotels to easily adapt various content formats, from city guides and event listings to long-form editorials and videos. We merged The Angle into the main site, consolidating all brand offerings under one unified digital space. Key technical features included custom destination pages for the W Presents event series, multilingual support, and ADA compliance to meet W Hotels’ global and inclusive audience.
