Sweden Unlimited is an independent, female-founded creative agency based in New York. For over twenty years, we have been designing and building digital experiences for some of the world's most recognized brands in fashion, beauty, lifestyle, and luxury. We are small by design, senior-led, and deeply invested in the work we do and the clients we do it with.

FAQs

  • Why Sweden?

    When we started our band in the late '90s, we were determined to have a name that started with "S" so our records would sit alongside our favorites: the Smiths, Spacemen 3, Stone Roses, Stereolab, Spiritualized. We asked our friend Jack for suggestions. He looked at us, shrugged, and said "Sweden."
  • Why Unlimited?

    Around 2000, we quit our jobs and taught ourselves how to build websites for our friends in fashion. People already knew us as Sweden from our band, so the name stuck. We added "Unlimited" somewhat ironically because back then we genuinely took on anything creative that would pay the bills. Store interiors, furniture, flyers, lookbooks, menus, album artwork, websites. We had no limits.
  • Are you actually from Sweden?

    No. Leja and Alex are originally from Pittsburgh and Richard is from DC. Our office is in NYC.
  • How are the founders related?

    Leja and Alex are identical twin sisters, and Leja and Richard are married.
  • Are you Shopify Partners?

    Yes, we're proud to be Shopify Premier Partners and have been working with Shopify since 2017.
  • What makes Sweden different?

    We've been working in ecommerce for over two decades, across large-scale enterprise builds and founder-led startups alike, through every major shift the industry has seen. We're one of the few agencies that brings brand and technology together under one roof, with genuine depth on both sides. We're female-led, which shapes how we work: we nurture, we collaborate, and we're not chasing growth at all costs. We're also independently owned, so you won't be just a line item on a private equity exit plan.
  • Do you still have a New York office?

    Yes! After closing our Lafayette Street office during the pandemic, we found a new home in one of our favorite parts of the city, the South Street Seaport. You can find us at 133 Beekman Street, Suite 303, New York, NY 10038.
